Collaborative Leadership

Collaborative Leadership

Every product, project and improvement benefits from many voices.

When we launched gofoco.net in Fort Collins, I knew that additional focus group and research resources would benefit the site. I also knew that we didn’t have the money to buy it.  In a conversation with the Dean of the School of Business at CSU, we came up with the idea of having our site be one of the marketing projects for the senior marketing class.  Throughout the semester, I visited the class, made presentations and answered questions to keep them focused.  For their final, three student groups presented their marketing research, ideas and concepts to improve our site to the operating committee of the Coloradoan.  The students got some great real world experience and we got some great ideas.  We took the concepts to improve navigation, and then hosted a flash mob and other contests to drive interest from college students.  Since implementing the ideas, we have had steady traffic growth and more stickiness to the site.  We will continue to work with CSU for marketing research and ideas in the future.
